Frequently asked questions

ONNYON is a cycling app that helps you decide what to wear before every ride. It looks at three things together: the weather and cycling conditions for your location and route, the items you have in your wardrobe, and your personal preferences. The result is a clear recommendation built around the gear you actually own.

It's free to use, works on iOS and Android, and runs entirely on your phone. No account, no email, no tracking.

No. There's no sign-up, no email, no username, no password. Open the app, add your wardrobe, and ride. Everything you create, from your wardrobe to routes and ride history, lives on your phone.

We do not collect personal information. We do not have your email, name, or any way to identify you. ONNYON collects anonymous, aggregated usage data to provide a better user experience, through app improvement, brand deals and product placement. Your individual wardrobe, routes, and ride history never leave your phone.

Honest answer: no, but here is how the model actually works.

Most "free" apps make money by collecting personal data on you and selling it to advertisers. ONNYON does not do that. We have no account, no profile, no individual data on you, and nothing to sell to anyone.

We use anonymous aggregate insights to provide cycling brands a gateway to better products and marketing. Additionally, we offer visibility and product placement inside the app for partner brands.

The intention is to use the revenue from these partnerships to keep the app free.

Yes, but with nuances. ONNYON relies on live weather data to determine the conditions for both your location and your routes. You can always browse and modify your wardrobe offline since all the data is kept locally on your device.

ONNYON pulls together three things every time you ride:

  • The live weather and conditions: whether it is for a specific location or a route, ONNYON looks at the weather from a cyclist's perspective, taking into consideration not only the wind or possible rain, but also the road conditions and temperature perception when you are riding.
  • The items in your wardrobe: the recommendation is built from what you actually own, not a generic catalogue. ONNYON has a built-in engine that determines the temperature ranges of the items you add to your wardrobe. These values can be tweaked to fit your needs and expectations.
  • Your preferences and favorites: in the settings you can tell ONNYON whether you tend to ride warm or cold, and the recommendation logic adjusts accordingly. You can also mark items in your wardrobe as favorites, and ONNYON will prioritize them. Lastly, when using the ride log, you can specify which items you wore and how they felt on the ride, and that feedback will inform future recommendations.

ONNYON could suggest a generic outfit, but it would be telling you what someone else thinks you should own. Adding your own gear takes a few minutes once, and from then on every recommendation is something you can actually pull off the hanger. It also means the app respects what you've already invested in, instead of constantly nudging you toward more purchases.

Yes. We are working to implement connectivity with Strava and Komoot so you can import your favorite routes, as well as have your rides flow into ONNYON automatically. More integrations are on the way.

ONNYON will initially launch in Switzerland. The app itself works anywhere in the world, but we are starting close to home so we can refine the experience with riders we can talk to directly. Other regions will follow soon. If you want to influence which country comes next, drop your country on the notify page.

ONNYON is built by cyclists, for cyclists. The app started as a personal frustration: standing in front of a wardrobe, checking three different weather apps, and still getting the kit wrong half the time. Everything in ONNYON, from how the recommendations work to how the app respects your privacy, comes from that perspective: built by someone who rides, for people who ride.
